Travis Hunter is set to receive a "major in offense and minor in defense" at the Jaguars rookie minicamp, but not before he receives his actual degree from the University of Colorado on Thursday. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s become common knowledge around the sports world that Travis Hunter was a phenomenal player on offense and defense in college, but on Thursday, the Jaguars’ first-round pick will be being celebrated for his efforts in the classroom one day before he kicks off his offseason training program in Duval County. According to Cameron Wolfe, a national reporter for the NFL, Hunter will walk across the graduation stage at the University of Colorado Boulder on Thursday, receiving his degree in Anthropology.

Wolfe adds that after speaking with a Jags coach, Hunter will eventually “double major in both offense and defense like he did at Colorado,” but that the process will begin with him focusing more on the offensive side of the ball. “Travis Hunter will start off as a wide receiver first,” the reporter said. “He’s going to get most of his time at wide receiver, and then learn defensive back as the summer goes along.” Coaches also told Wolfe that when they interviewed Hunter during the pre-draft process, it was clear that he was a “culture builder on and off the field.” “That’s the element, the energy they’re going to want to see the first weekend of rookie minicamp,” Wolfe said. The hype surrounding Hunter has been off the charts since the Jaguars made the bold decision to trade up in the draft to select him, which is evident by his post-draft jersey sales.
On Saturday, Jaguars fans will have an opportunity to see if the expectations are justified as the team decided to open its May 10 session at the Miller Electric Center to supporters. “Wouldn’t it be cool to see him catch a touchdown from Trevor Lawrence, but also get a chance to pick him off in practice?” Wolfe quipped.
