Team USA Closes Preliminary Round Against Germany

The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team clinched the top spot in Group B after it beat Sweden, 6-3, Saturday (April 26) at the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship. Despite trailing 2-0 early in the first period, the U.S. responded with six of the next seven goals. Will Moore (Ithaca, N.Y.) got Team USA on the board late in the first, and Jacob Kvasnicka (Plymouth, Minn.) tied it early in the second.

After Sweden briefly reclaimed the lead, Mikey Berchild (Minnetonka, Minn.) tied it again before Cullen Potter (Minneapolis, Minn.) gave the U.S. its first lead just before the second intermission. In the third, Drew Schock (Green Bay, Wis. extended the lead, and Teddy Mutryn (Norwell, Mass.) sealed the win with an emptynet goal.

Goaltender Patrick Quinlan (Kennett Square, Pa.) was solid in net, stopping 25 shots, including a key save on a shorthanded Swedish breakaway. Kvasnicka was named Player of the Game with a goal and two assists. The U.S. outshot Sweden 42-28.
