Study shows Trump suffers from Biden Derangement Syndrome

written by TheFeedWired

Why won’t President Donald Trump stop talking about his predecessor? A new analysis from NBC News shows that Trump has spoken about former President Joe Biden, his family or his administration 580 times in public remarks or on social media posts since he took office. NBC noted that the number averages out to about six times for every day of Trump’s presidency.

In comparison, NBC News reported that Biden invoked Trump just 29 times during the first 100 days of his presidency. Trump has repeatedly tried to blame Biden for nearly all of the woes he has encountered since being sworn in to office, including the high costs of eggs, inflation, immigration and the economy. He rarely misses an opportunity to denounce Biden, who has remained mostly out of the public eye since leaving office in January.

More from NBC News: Trump has given no sign that his preoccupation with Biden is waning. He’s using the ample communication tools at a president’s disposal to keep his predecessor front and center, with aides and subordinates stepping forward to sustain the drumbeat. Trump’s White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, has mentioned Biden 78 times in the 16 briefings she has given thus far, including 37 times unprompted in her opening remarks.

Trump frequently accuses his critics of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome” when they talk about him often. However, some liberal pundits have suggested that it is Trump who has “Biden Derangement Syndrome.” MSNBC political contributor Steve Benen wrote on Monday: “The idea of ‘Biden Derangement Syndrome’ never really caught on as a phenomenon during Biden’s term, but to the extent that the ailment exists, there’s reason to believe his successor has contracted a virulent strain, which has gone completely untreated.” Trump may be trying to persuade voters that the flailing stock market and rising concerns of a recession are not his fault, but Biden’s. However, polls show that Americans are not buying Trump’s excuses.

When asked who was responsible for the state of the economy, 54% of respondents in a CBS News poll said it was Trump’s policies. Another 21% said it was Biden’s policies, 20% said it was both of them equally and 5% said it was neither of them. Our journalism needs your support.
