Simmons will return for the fourth Marvel Cinematic Universe-set Spider-Man movie as J. Jonah Jameson, the host of The Daily Bugle. This report comes roughly two months after Simmons refused to address his involvement in Brand New Day, stating, “No spoilers.

Simmons first portrayed the fan-favorite Spider-Man character in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, appearing in all three installments released between 2002 and 2007.
After Sony opted to exclude Jameson from the Andrew Garfield-led Amazing Spider-Man duology, Simmons returned to the role for a memorable cameo at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, the second installment in Sony and Marvel’s Tom Holland-led trilogy. The actor was then given a larger role as the MCU variant of J. Jonah Jameson in Far From Home’s 2021 sequel, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct Spider-Man: Brand New Day, succeeding Jon Watts, who helmed the MCU’s first Spider-Man trilogy. Cretton will be working from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who have scripted all the MCU-set Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
