Picking Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL draft has at least been a commercial success so far for the Cleveland Browns. Cllct's Matt Liberman reported Sanders has the highest-selling jersey among rookies at the NFL's official online shop. Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Travis Hunter is next on the list with Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward following in third.
Buying the jersey of a rookie player straight out of the draft can be a bit risky. Anybody who owns a Mac Jones New England Patriots jersey is probably keeping that in storage for a while. Sanders is an even bigger gamble because there are no guarantees he'll make the active roster by Week 1.
He, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel are all fighting over two spots this preseason. The early returns from Sanders are encouraging, and it's way too soon to start drawing any conclusions from the order in which head coach Kevin Stefanski utilizes his QBs in practice. Still, Sanders is a fifth-round pick, so Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry don't have too much personally invested in making him a starting quarterback.
They might also have their eyes on the 2026 draft class, which figures to have a stronger QB group. Contrast that to Jaxson Dart's situation with the New York Giants. The first-round pick could plausibly be third in the depth chart behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, but he's likely to get two, maybe three years at a minimum to prove himself.
Giants fans made Dart No. 6 on the sales charts for rookies. Maybe those wind up as useful as Daniel Jones jerseys now, but the potential long-term payoff is there.
