Is your favorite HBO show returning for another season? Max has canceled “Bookies” and “The Sex Lives of College Girls” ahead of the 2025-2026 season. “The Sex Lives of College Girls” cocreator Justin Noble reacted to the news via Instagram in March.
“Unfortunately, Max has decided not to order a fourth season. We are currently in discussions with some new potential homes for the show, and it’s nice that there is so much interest,” Noble wrote. “After seeing our show listed as the most watched or second most watched scripted show on the entire platform, for about 70 straight days, this is not the outcome I saw coming.” Max, which will once again be rebranded as HBO Max starting this summer, has also renewed several shows.
“Hacks,” “The Pitt,” “Conan O’Brien Must Go,” “Creature Commandos,” “Dune: Prophecy,” “On the Roam,” and “Peacemaker” will all return with new episodes. “Harley Quinn” has yet to be canceled or renewed. The shows mentioned above are Max originals, meaning they are exclusive to the Max streaming service and typically do not air on the HBO channel.
As for the HBO originals returning for new episodes, “The Last of Us,” “Euphoria,” “Industry,” “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver,” “Real Time With Bill Maher,” “The White Lotus,” and “True Detective” have all been renewed.
