Season 50 of “Saturday Night Live” is almost over. The sketch comedy show’s official Instagram page announced the “last shows of season 50” on Thursday, April 24. There won’t be a new episode of “SNL” on April 26, but the show will air new episodes every Saturday for the first three weekends in May.
Quinta Brunson is set to host next on Saturday, May 3, with musical guest Benson Boone. The show will mark Boone’s “SNL” debut, while Brunson previously hosted in April 2023. “White Lotus” star Walton Goggins will host on Saturday, May 10, with musical guest Arcade Fire.
Scarlett Johansson will host the “SNL” season 50 finale on Saturday, May 17, with musical guest Bad Bunny. The announcement about Goggins’ “SNL” debut comes after Aimee Lou Wood, who played his girlfriend Chelsea on season 3 of “The White Lotus,” criticized the show for a sketch that made fun of her teeth. “Yes, take the piss for sure – that’s what the show is about — but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?” Wood wrote via her Instagram Story earlier this month in reaction to the “White POTUS” sketch, which she called “mean and funny.” Wood emphasized that she was “not hating” on “SNL” cast member Sarah Sherman, who donned prosthetic teeth to portray her, but the concept of the skit itself.
She later shared that Sherman had sent her “beautiful flowers.” READ MORE: ‘SNL’ alum addresses controversial 1990s sketch While Wood didn’t appreciate the sketch, Goggins shared it via his Instagram Story and called it “SMASHING.” He also praised Jon Hamm, who played a version of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. inspired by Goggins’ “White Lotus” character, Rick. “Jon … I knew I was miscast,” Goggins wrote. Goggins and Wood’s mixed reactions to the sketch raised eyebrows amid rumors that the costars have beef.
After fellow “White Lotus” star Jason Isaacs said during a March interview with Vulture that “friendships were made and friendships were lost” while filming season 3 of the show, fans couldn’t help but wonder who he was referring to. It didn’t take long for some internet sleuths to discover that Goggins and Wood had stopped following each other on Instagram. Neither Goggins nor Wood have publicly commented on the feud speculation.
After the “White Lotus” season 3 finale aired, Goggins shared several behind–the-scenes photos of himself and Wood. “Thank you Aimee Lou for being my partner … a journey I will never forget,” he wrote in the caption. “Saturday Night Live” is available to stream on Peacock.
