Patriots Patriots rookie Will Campbell reveals wild pregame superstition "I’m very superstitious in my pregame routine, so I have a way that I go about it every time." Will Campbell is expected to help shore up New England's offensive line in 2025 and beyond. John Tlumacki/Boston Globe Staff Patriots rookie left tackle Will Campbell — like most athletes — has his own unique quirks and superstitions ahead of games.
While some players cycle through the same playlist or put on their gear a certain way, the Patriots’ 2025 first-round pick (No. 4 overall) revealed a pretty wild routine during a social-media video posted by New England this week. As part of a Q&A video on his flight to Gillette Stadium, Campbell rolled some of the highlights of his pregame routine, such as the fact that he eats the same dinner the night before a game — along with the same breakfast, lunch, and pregame meal.
But the former LSU offensive lineman also admitted that he adheres to a pretty strict clothing choice as he gets ready on game day. … “I’m very superstitious in my pregame routine, so I have a way that I go about it every time. Yeah, I’m very superstitious on gameday.” As bizarre as that might be, it’s hard to knock the results for Campbell — given the body of work that he submitted at LSU. Campbell was the best offensive lineman on the board during the 2025 NFL Draft — with the 6-foot-6 left tackle allowing just five total sacks over his three years with the Tigers.

Speaking to reporters at Gillette Stadium on Thursday, Maye echoed Campbell’s enthusiasm from draft night. “Listening to it live … it gets your juices flowing,” Maye said of Campbell’s comments about protecting him on the field.
“It makes you want to go out and play football now. Pumped that we picked Will. “We had a chance to meet when he flew in on Friday.
I’m pumped to get things going. Obviously, he seems like a football player. That’s what you want around here.” Conor Ryan Sports Writer Conor Ryan is a staff writer covering the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox for Boston.com, a role he has held since 2023.
