It’s been a big year for BLACKPINK. Lisa starred in the third season of The White Lotus, one of the most popular shows on OTT, and also delivered a standout performance at Coachella, as did Jennie, who brought the house down with hit tracks like Starlight, Like Jennie, Mantra and Solo. Meanwhile, Rosé was recognised as one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People and Jisoo released her solo EP Amortage, and is gearing up to star in a number of acting projects, including the K-drama Newtopia.

Most importantly, BLACKPINK is revving up for their highly-awaited world tour, which will kick off in South Korea this July, and conclude in January 2026 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. Even then, they aren’t the most streamed K-pop act of the year, stacking up 1.28 billion streams in 2025. Neither is it Seventeen or Stray Kids, despite their mammoth fandoms.

Here’s who bagged this title. Not BLACKPINK, Seventeen or Stray Kids, this band has become the first K-pop act to cross 1.28 billion streams in 2025 When it comes to BTS, the adage “out of sight out of mind” just doesn’t apply. Despite the band being on hiatus, with most of its members still serving their time in the military, the group comprising Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, has emerged as the first K-pop act to cross 1.2819 billion streams in 2025.

They’ve also been listed as the most streamed K-pop act of the year, despite no major album release (as of right now) by any member. In fact, Suga, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are still serving time in the military and are expected to be discharged in June, while J-Hope and Jin have been busy focussing on their solo careers.

Jin does have an upcoming album, Echoes, in the pipeline, but it's not available for streaming just yet. Meanwhile J-Hope has been busy with his Hope on the Street world tour that will wrap up in Osaka, Japan on June 1. All members of BTS are expected to unite just in time for FESTA 2025, their 12th anniversary, following which they’re expected to release a new album and possibly even embark on a world tour.

Until then, they’ll keep raising the bar — for the world of Kpop — from offstage.
