Ahead of the release of her upcoming album Something Beautiful, Miley Cyrus celebrated Met Gala Monday with two Alaïa looks: one for the red carpet and one for the Cartier after-party. After the festivities within the gala itself came to a close, Cyrus stepped out in a midriff-baring fur stole and white A-line skirt, which she paired with black sunglasses for an added dose of rockstar energy. She later posted images from Cartier’s Met Gala after-party on Instagram, which she captioned, “CARTIER PARTY @cartier @maisonalaia MORE TO LOSE COMING MAY 9TH,” citing “More to Lose,” an upcoming single from Something Beautiful.

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Cyrus described the album as “hypnotizing and glamorous,” with a feel inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall and the 2018 film Mandy. Specifically of Mandy, which starred Nicolas Cage as a man seeking revenge against the cult that killed his girlfriend, Cyrus said, “I wanted to play Nicolas Cage.
I love that it’s a romance revenge story. Romance and revenge—those are some of the greatest tragedies. I forever and always will be interested in those.” She added that Something Beautiful is “a concept album that’s an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music.” She continued, “It was important for me that every song has these healing sound properties.
The songs, whether they’re about destruction or heartbreak or death, they’re presented in a way that is beautiful. Because the nastiest times of our life do have a point of beauty. They are the shadow, they are the charcoal, they are the shading.
You can’t have a painting without highlights and contrast.” Something Beautiful is set to drop on May 30.
