Little Words Project’s ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Collab Is All About Ohana

written by TheFeedWired

As you read this, I’m Florida-bound for a couple of weeks of Disney-related fun—though my husband would tell you he’d rather be going to Hawaii (I might too). I’ve advised him while on Disney property to look for all things Lilo & Stitch—the closest thing to blending both worlds on this highly anticipated family trip of ours. Luckily, we got a treat before leaving with the news that Little Words Project (LWP) has released a Lilo & Stitch themed collection to coincide with Disney’s release of a live-action version of the Hawaii-set movie.

Originally a 2002 animated feature, Lilo & Stitch taught children and their parents that “ohana means family,” a phrase that has had a long life beyond the film. So it’s no surprise to find the word ohana on one of LWP’s beaded bracelets, complete with everyone’s favorite little alien (that’s Stitch, for those of you unfamiliar), blue and white plumeria flowers, and the cutest pineapple charm. Lilo & Stitch is, hands down, my favorite Disney movie.

It’s what made me dream of visiting Hawaii, started my obsession with Elvis Presley, and taught me that not all families are perfect and that’s okay. I was 16 when that film made its debut, not exactly a young child but still not immune to the comfort of its gorgeous music, colorful scenery, and beautiful theme. Even now, on a particularly lousy day, I’ll suggest to my kids that we give it a watch—not (only) for them, but for me.

So for anyone (like me) who adores that furry blue alien and his tenacious human sidekick, Little Words Project’s collection is a wonderful gift, self or otherwise, as a pick-me-up through the summer season. To state the obvious, the bracelets were built for the beach. And they’re a fun, affordable option amid the consistently growing demand for bead jewelry—you can get a three-pack of the bracelets for $75!

Mix and match them however you like, Little Words Project’s Lilo & Stitch collection brings both a playful nature and a reminder to embrace the ones you love, as well as your inner self (even if it’s a mischievous alien). Top: Lilo & Stitch fans understand that sandwich on the Hawaiian beach with Little Words Project‘s bracelets themed to the Disney movie.
