Lara Trump Spills Details of Phone Call With Jake Tapper: ‘Called Me About Two Months Ago…’

written by TheFeedWired

Fox News host and presidential daughter-in-law Lara Trump revealed the details of a recent phone call she had with CNN’s Jake Tapper. Tapper and Alex Thompson of Axios have written a new book titled Original Sin, an exposé about the extent to which former President Joe Biden’s top aides went to hide his cognitive deficiencies from other staffers and the public. Conservatives have generally panned the book as being a day late and a dollar short.

Chief among them is Laura Ingraham of Fox News, who last week mocked the work by saying it was clear to her that Biden had been in cognitive decline for years. On Tuesday’s edition of The Ingraham Angle, she welcomed Lara Trump to the program. “Now, I want to remind everyone how he treated you back in– five years ago when you brought up what you saw, which was Biden’s cognitive decline,” Ingraham told Trump, teeing up a clip of Trump clashing with Tapper on CNN in October 2020.

“What we see on stage with Joe Biden, Jake, is very clearly a cognitive decline,” she said at the time. “That’s what I’m referring to.” Her comment prompted Tapper to interject, which led to some crosstalk. “I think that you are mocking his stutter,” Tapper replied.

“I think you are mocking his stutter and I think you have absolutely no standing to diagnose somebody’s cognitive decline.” Ingraham then played a clip of Tapper on Monday, declaring, “She was right and I was wrong. I did not see, in the moments he was having, I did not see that as cognitive decline. She did.

Our reporting suggests that she was correct. So I feel humility. I have apologized to her.” Ingraham reacted by asking Trump, “Lara, when did that apology come?

And if you don’t mind sharing with us, what did he say?” Trump replied: Yeah, Jake Tapper called me about two months ago, actually. And he said, “I have this book coming out, and I know everybody’s saying that I should apologize to you. I plan, whenever the book comes out, to go on TV and I will say, ‘You were right and I was wrong.

'” And I guess to Jake’s credit, he did that. Now, Laura, I think the overarching thing here, though, is that the damage is done, right? We were so close to something so dangerous happening to this country.

I mean, look at what actually happened. Look at the millions of illegal immigrants able to pour in. People are questioning now, you know, who was actually in charge of this country?

She went on to say, “It feels a little bit too late to me. I do appreciate that he did keep his word, though, and come out and say that I was right.” “Did he actually call you, or was the on-air dramatic apology – was that it?” the host inquired. “Well, he called me and said that he was going to do this,” Trump responded.

“Ok, so, but he didn’t actually apologize to you in a subsequent phone call,” Ingraham replied. “It was like so convoluted.” Watch above via Fox News.
