Global pop superstar Lady Gaga performed for over 2.5 million fans at a free concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lady Gaga performed the landmark concert on Copacabana Beach in the Brazilian city on Saturday, May 3rd. Gaga now holds the record for the highest attended concert by a female artist in history.
"I'm so honored to be here to be with you tonight. My heart is full, I feel lucky, proud, and deeply grateful," Gaga said during a speech given mid-way through her performance. "Tonight, we're making history, but no one makes history alone.
Without all of you, the incredible people of Brazil, I wouldn't have this moment, Thank you for making history with me." "The people of Brazil are the reason I get to shine today," she added. "You are as vibrant and beautiful as the sun and the moon rising over the ocean right here on Copacabana Beach."
The performance came on the heels of Gaga's recent headlining set at Coachella and a string of sold-out stadium shows in Mexico City. She is now set to perform in Singapore before launching The Mayhem Ball tour, which will take her across North America, Europe, the U.K., and Australia throughout the Summer and Fall. The Mayhem Ball Tour is in support of her eighth studio album, Mayhem, which received widespread critical acclaim and debuted atop the Billboard 200, earning Gaga her seventh consecutive No.
