Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars fall just short of making history as “Die With a Smile” drops to No. 2 on … More the Billboard Global 200 after nearly tying an all-time record. (Photo by JB Lacroix/FilmMagic) FilmMagic Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars almost made incredible history on a Billboard chart this week – the key word there being almost. The two musicians had been on quite the winning streak lately on the Billboard Global 200 with their track "Die With a Smile,” as the tune is one of the most successful in the years-long tenure of the list of the most popular songs throughout the world. Just when it looked like the cut was about to tie an all-time record, a newcomer reached the summit and blocked the powerhouses from a brand new special place in the history books, at least for the moment.
Alex Warren Scores the No. 1 Song in the World Singer-songwriter Alex Warren scores the No. 1 song in the world this week.
His breakout tune "Ordinary" rises from No. 2 to the top spot on the Billboard Global 200, reaching the peak position for the very first time. It does so 12 weeks into its life on the list.
While that’s great news for Warren, Gaga and Mars must surely be disappointed with the results. "Die With a Smile" drops from No. 1 to No.
2, swapping spaces with Warren’s "Ordinary." If the collaboration had managed to hold on for just one more frame, it would have tied the all-time record for the most weeks running the show on the worldwide ranking. That honor is still held by "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey.
The tune has earned 19 stays on the summit, although unlike "Die With a Smile," it didn’t collect all of those stints atop the roster in one promotional run. The holiday cut returns to No. 1 and becomes the biggest track in the world every Christmas season.
It has collected a few frames each year, and eventually, it established itself as the longest-running winner — even if had to do so throughout five different years. "All I Want for Christmas Is You" may, in just a few months, become the first song to reach 20 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 – and then possibly pass that figure if its continued trend holds at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026.
"Die With a Smile" Still Reigns on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. While "Die With a Smile" may not be the biggest track in the world at the moment, it still holds at No.
1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. That tally is compiled in the same way as the Billboard Global 200, blending sales and streams, though all activity from America is excluded. The Grammy-winning collaboration earns its sixteenth stay at No.
1. That’s one of the longest rungs ever, but it will need to remain in that spot for at least three more frames to match the all-time record held. That honor is still held by "Apt.," a duet between – again – Mars and Blackpink singer Rosé, which, like "All I Want for Christmas Is You," has dominated for 19 periods.
