How a Travis Scott concert cost Coachella $20,000 in fines

written by TheFeedWired

Coachella’s festival and concert promoter Goldenvoice must pay a $20,000 fine to the City of Indio, Calif. after Travis Scott’s festival performance went over the agreed upon curfew by just a few minutes. During the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival on April 12, Scott concluded his headlining set three minutes past 1 a.m., which broke a previous standing agreement with officials from the city. Scott started his performance late, causing the set to go past the curfew time.

The agreement stated that Coachella would end at 1 a.m. each Friday and Saturday night and at 12 a.m. on Sundays. “Coachella is fined $20,000 for the first five minutes it exceeds the curfew limit,” the agreement said, according to Billboard. In 2023, Goldenvoice paid over $168,000 worth of fines after performers Bad Bunny, Frank Ocean, the Weeknd, Skrillex, Fred Again and Four Tet went over their allotted curfew times.

Other previous Coachella performers that led to fines were Paul McCartney ($54,000 in 2009) and Lana del Rey ($17,000), according to Billboard.
