Cynthia Erivo is set to narrate a new audiobook edition of Wicked. Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West inspired the hit stage musical and its two-part movie adaptation, in which Erivo stars as Elphaba. According to Variety, the actor will now narrate an audiobook edition of the bestseller, which is set to debut on 1 July.

The novel is notably darker than the musical and movie, presented as a biography of the Wicked Witch of the West, aka Elphaba. The movie adaptation released in November and went on to receive 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Actress for Erivo and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda.

Matilda: The Musical's Alisha Weir recently addressed rumours she's to play Dorothy Gale in the sequel, saying: "When I saw the rumour, I thought this is absolutely crazy and it went so crazy on social media and everyone was asking me. I mean that would be wonderful."
"I am such a big fan of Wicked and I saw the first one with my family. I am such a big fan of Jon Chu's work and Ariana Grande and Cynthia but that would be pretty cool." Wicked: For Good will release in cinemas on 21 November.
