SAINt JHN Says Playing the Coachella Stage Was ‘a Whole New Gravity’ and ‘a Dream Realized’

written by TheFeedWired

SAINt JHN brought nonstop energy during his performance at the PEOPLE App launch party at Hotel Chelsea Tuesday night. You'd never know he'd been on the road for 45 straight days — and came to New York pretty much straight from Coachella. But he wouldn't have it any other way.

"I was in Denver last night doing a show. Right before that I was in Portland. We did Coachella," he told PEOPLE ahead of his three-song set, during which he got the crowd going and tossed his crystal-encrusted sunglasses to PEOPLE Editor-in-Chief and GM Charlotte Triggs.

"I think I'm — I'm closing my eyes. I'm squinting, trying to remember. I think I'm 18 cities deep into a 24 city tour … 2025 has looked like, my home in Puerto Rico hasn't seen me."

Steve Eichner/Shutterstock Before taking the stage to perform "Roses," "Sucks to Be You" and "94 Bentley" the artist (born Carlos St. John Phillips) reflected on the pinnacle of his whirlwind year: Performing at Coachella in front of thousands of fans. "It's my first Coachella. It was madness, because I mapped it out from the back of the tour bus.

The entire creative, the concept, everything happened from the back of the tour bus, which operates like my office," he recalled. "So everybody on the tour, I'd be like, 'Yo, come to my office. Come sit down.

We gotta talk.' It was stressful because it was my first time. I never did nothing like that before [though] I've done festivals around the world in every country you could possibly imagine."

And though he got right back on the road so he hasn't had much time to reflect, he's happy with how it went: "I think it was good." "It came to life from the back of the tour bus, I made a little bit of magic happen," he said. "I have to work with some limitations, which is cool when you're creative.

I think sometimes it's cool to tell people, here's the limitations, so they know the boundaries you can work within. I made it work!" The PEOPLE App is now available in the Apple App Store!
