Sorry, they're not Anti-Romantic. Tomorrow x Together latest release is a million miles from the angsty 2021 hit that saw them opining about giving up on romance. On "Love Language," the five-piece K-pop group are whole-heartedly chasing it.
The feeling of the melodic, Afro house-inspired track is pure "joy and excitement," Beomgyu, 24, tells PEOPLE, adding, "I hope this song inspires listeners to express and communicate their feelings in their own language to their loved ones." The five love languages, for the uninitiated, are words of affirmation, quality time, gifts, acts of service, and physical touch, and are used to describe how a person chooses to express love and how they prefer to receive it from others. Naturally, PEOPLE asked the members of TXT what their own personal love languages are.
Soobin, 24, chose quality time, which includes doing activities or just giving someone his undivided attention. Taehyun, 23, and Hueningkai, 22, both said acts of service, or performing tasks that help their loved ones. Beomgyu picked gifts, which applies to both giving and receiving meaningful items.
And Yeonjun, 25, chose words of affirmation, or simply giving compliments and praise. Tomorrow x Together. BIGHIT MUSIC Hueningkai, who co-wrote the song's lyrics, admits he "fell in love with it ever since I heard the demo."
And his inspiration was from a source the members have drawn on from the start: their fans, known collectively as MOA, for Moments of Alwaysness. "I wrote the lines of the chorus like 'I wanna know more about you / I wanna know your language' while thinking about MOA during my creative process," he explains. "Love Language" isn't so much a departure from a previous outlook for TXT, as the group prides itself on constantly experimenting and growing..
Since their angstier The Chaos Chapter: Freeze, which featured the viral "Anti-Romantic" and "LO$ER=LO♡ER," they've dabbled in dance, pop-punk, and dreamy bubblegum pop, and with an ever-evolving, often maturing, message. Their most recent album, The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY, contained lyrics about finding true love and lasting happiness. “To some extent, I think it really reflects us growing up,” Hueningkai told PEOPLE in November 2024.
"We always say that we want to show a diverse range of music to our fans, MOA," says Soobin. "With this track, we wanted to create a sound that feels more straightforward, infused with fun and unique elements." The universality is also appealing to a group whose fans span continents and speak dozens of languages.
"Similar to love, I believe that music also has the power to transcend barriers, no matter the language it’s in," says Yeonjun. "It allows everyone to enjoy and connect through it." "Throughout our musical journey, our focus has been on conveying messages that are both uniquely Tomorrow x Together, but also relatable to listeners of our generation," adds Beomgyu.
"I think our newest track is a testament to that." Tomorrow x Together's Love Language. BIGHIT MUSIC It's been six years since they debuted under Big Hit Music, a significant amount of time in the world of boy bands, during which they've racked up plenty of accolades, streaming records and a handful of world tours.
And while they are constantly challenging themselves to exceed fans' expectations, they have also reached a place where they've earned some sentimentality. Looking back on their career so far, Taehyun admits, "Whenever I hear fans say, 'I bought this album when I was so much younger,' I realize how much we’ve grown as artists, and I feel grateful to have shared our youth together."
