While audiences will be the judge of whether the sequel surpasses 2018's A Simple Favor in the "OMFG, what?!" department, the lead-up to the tongue-in-cheek thriller's May 1 premiere on Amazon Prime Video certainly raised the stakes for online detectives investigating whether Kendrick and Blake Lively get along or not.

Rumors of a feud dogged the release of the original, which starred Kendrick as single-mom vlogger Stephanie, who takes it upon herself to figure out what happened to her chic new friend Emily (Lively), who disappears after asking Stephanie to pick up her son from school. Really, the simplest of favors. There's a sequel, so nothing that terrible befell Emily, but we'll refrain from spoilers here.

Kendrick and Lively may have spoiled the imagined subplot simmering beneath the surface, however, when they both showed up for the April 27 premiere of Another Simple Favor at New York's Lincoln Center and posed amiably for pictures, side by side. And before that, they were laughing together at a screening in London.
