WEST BERLIN, N.J. (WPVI) – A World War II veteran is celebrating two incredible milestones just a month apart. Anthony Simone, a WWII veteran, turned 101 on April 5. He served in the U.S. Army in the early 1940s and recalls traveling through Europe, participating in the Battle of the Bulge and serving guard duty in Munich.
After the war, Anthony Simone spent 49 years as a body and fender repairman. His wife, MaryAnn Simone, is 96 and always by his side. “When I married her, my whole life changed,” Anthony Simone said.
The couple will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary on May 6. “We had a really, really good marriage – 75 years and more, God help us,” MaryAnn Simone said. “I love you with all my heart and my soul.
I’ll always love you ‘til the day I die,” Anthony Simone told his wife. The Simones now live with their daughter, who takes care of MaryAnn Simone. They have seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
As he reflects on his life and what he’s most thankful for, Anthony Simone says age doesn’t even come to mind. “To tell you the truth, I never even thought of age. That’s what I try to tell people: ‘Don’t think of age.
Just take your life as it comes along,’” he said. Copyright 2025 WPVI via CNN Newsource. All rights reserved.
