Generate Key Takeaways New images from The Sandman Season 2 have been released, offering fans their first look at Jack Gleeson‘s Puck and Barry Sloane‘s Destruction. The second and final season of the acclaimed Netflix series based on the eponymous comic by Neil Gaiman will introduce several new characters, such as Gleeson’s Puck, as well as the remaining Endless siblings — Destiny, Delirium, and Prodigal (a.k.a. Destruction) — the latter of whom abandoned his realm and his familial responsibilities to the other Endless a long time ago.

Entertainment Weekly shared the first look at Gleeson and Sloane as Puck and Destruction, respectively, and spoke with Allan Heinberg about casting the two roles, with the showrunner praising the actors for the depth they brought to their respective characters. A new look at Tom Sturridge as Dream was also unveiled. What did The Sandman showrunner say about Puck and Destruction?

“He brings sexiness to it and mischief and psychology and heart,” Heinberg said on Gleeson’s Puck. “I have a tendency to write to the actors playing these parts, and I think our Puck is a very different Puck from the comics, but also from the Puck that I would’ve written for any other actor.” He will appear in Season 2’s adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a single-issue story from the comics about the creation of the classic Shakespeare play of the same name. For Destruction, Heinberg teased that much of Sloane’s dialogue as Destruction was pulled straight from the comics.

“He has such a lightness of touch, and he’s such a loving human. That’s really what we were looking for in casting this role,” the showrunner shared. “You think of Destruction, especially as he’s presented in the comics during The Song of Orpheus story, as the ultimate destroyer of worlds.

His story in the comic, and in our show as well, is actually a soul that’s in conflict. He wants to create, he doesn’t want to destroy. So you need an actor who is so full of love and so full of joy and yet looks like the archetypal soldier.” Besides the aforementioned actors, new additions to The Sandman for its second season include Adrian Lester as Destiny, Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Laurence O’Fuarain as Thor, Freddie Fox as Loki, Clive Russell as Odin, Ruairi O’Connor as Dream’s son Orpheus, Ann Skelly as Nuala, Douglas Booth as Cluracan, Indya Moore as Wanda, and Steve Coogan as the voice of Barnabas the dog.

The Sandman Season 2 will premiere on Netflix with its first six episodes on July 3, 2025, followed by its last five episodes on July 24, 2025.
