Will Johnson is ready to make the teams that passed on him in the NFL draft regret it. The new Arizona Cardinals cornerback, who slid to the 47th overall pick, was fired up upon being drafted but also sent a message to other teams. "Finna go kill, bruh.
They going to have to pay for this s–t," Johnson said in a video after being drafted (h/t Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams). "I promise you. Arizona finna get a dawg."
Johnson was the No. 5 overall player on the final big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department. Despite missing seven games with a shoulder injury and turf toe, Johnson had 14 tackles, three passes defended and four interceptions last year.
In 2023, he had 27 tackles, four passes defended and four interceptions for Michigan. Despite impressive stats and all the intangibles, Johnson fell to the second round because teams were concerned about a reported knee injury. After being drafted, Johnson said a potential knee injury is no cause for concern.
“I know I’m healthy," Johnson said, per Cardinals reporter Darren Urban. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Johnson "did not have pain or swelling" in his knee.
