The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are entering the 2025 season with no shortage of weapons for Baker Mayfield. 6-time Pro Bowl WR Mike Evans is returning to Tampa for yet another season, while the Bucs brass made it a priority to lock down Chris Godwin to a contract extension before he hit free agency. Despite a well-documented track record with injuries, there’s no denying Godwin’s contribution to the Buccaneers when fully healthy.
Last season, rookie WR Jalen McMillan found his groove, particularly late in the year. He finished with 461 yards and eight touchdowns last season. McMillan found a knack for getting into the end zone, especially as the Bucs made a playoff push in the second half of the year.In his last five regular-season games, the rookie hauled in seven touchdowns, and in the playoff loss to the Washington Commanders, he posted two receptions for 41 yards.
The wide receiver trio of Evans, Godwin and McMillan already looked good enough on paper, but the Bucs added another major weapon for Mayfield in the NFL Draft. In the first round, Tampa Bay selected Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka, and later in the draft, the Bucs added Tez Johnson from Oregon. It’s hard to not view the Buccaneers receiving corps as one of the best in the NFL in its current state.
But while other teams across the league look for help at receiver, rumors have begun to emerge about Tampa Bay possibly trading one of their young pass-catchers. Athlon Sports brought up a hypothetical trade situation involving the Dallas Cowboys making a move for McMillan. We love thought exercises around here, and with the Dallas Cowboys not adding a genuine No.
2 receiver for CeeDee Lamb via the NFL Draft, now many are scrambling to think how the franchise can get a quality option behind 88. Free agency has been mentioned, but the likes of Keenan Allen and Tyler Boyd are the top of that list. Both are older and would cost a little to bring in, but is there another avenue to go down?
Well, there is one, and it's a rather interesting one at that. On X, media personality and content creator Skywalker Steele, had a really thought-provoking idea, and it involves Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Jalen McMillan. It’s hard to see Tampa moving McMillian after such a productive rookie campaign, but anything can happen in the NFL.
